Overtime in Playoffs Clarification - there can be Overtime in any game of your 3 games series. If a game is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 4on4 five minute overtime. In games #1 & #2 of the series, if the game is still tied after OT, then each team gets 1 point and the game is considered a tie. There is no shootout in games 1 & 2. If a series goes to game 3, and the score is tied after regulation, you play the OT. A team does not earn a point for a tie after regulation time. But can earn a point for a tie after regulation and OT if still tied.
Scenario - Vultures are up 3 points to 1 point on Blues after 2 games in series. If game 3 ends in a tie after regulation, OT must be played as the Vultures have not yet earned the tie until after OT. If the game is still tied after OT, then Vultures win series 4 points to 2 points. If the Blues win in OT, then the series is tied 3 points apiece and the final point is decided by shootout. Winner of shootout wins series. If the Blues win game #3 in regulation, the series is tied at 3 points and a sudden death 4on4 5 minute OT is played. If neither team scores in OT, then a shootout decides series winner. If you need to discuss further, call Ian Wilson. |
